Song: 1904

Let’s not give away what all the songs are about. I think I prefer for the listener to decide for themselves what stuff means, because I always hate it when I think a song is about a horse, and then it turns out to be about a damn trip to France …”

“Amanda Shires leans back on her heels, bears down on her bow and evokes the spirit of Spade Cooley. With a voice that whispers Dolly and lyrics that scream Faulkner, this girl shines like a diamond, but she’s pure Pearl.”

Starting the 8th of next month, the beautiful Lisa Hannigan will be on U.S. soil for a small tour that will keep her here through July. Hannigan will be playing Philadelphia’s TLA (Theater of the Living Arts) on Saturday, July 16. See her webpage as well here for tickets.

Message from Lisa: My American Friends, I am very excited to announce a very special tour with my good friend and musical hero, Joe Henry.  Myself and Joe will be sharing the stage with Ross Turner and John Smith in an evening of collaborations and explorations playing songs from my records, Joe’s records, John’s records and indeed other people’s records. I’m very excited to be spending June reinventing old songs and rearranging new ones with these three incredible musicians.

Hope to see you there.

Song: Little Bird

I’ve been many places
Maybe not as far as you
So I think I’ll stay awhile
And see if some dreams come true…

Upon discerning the true nature of one Kristian Matsson (Tallest Man on Earth) and the ever lovely Amanda Bergman (Idiot Wind) are in fact a true item, we had to bring you this exclusive beautiful (Sinatra) cover by the duo… So, here it is and we hope you enjoy the alluring magic that exists between these two talented song-writers… Do not forget that the new TMOE album will be arriving in just another month!!! Ahh, the ever appealing sweetness spring will be in the air once again…

yes.please.thankyou.

I am flesh and bone, destined to become apart of the dirt..
Every show that we have had the pleasure of seeing Ethan Pierce, beginning back to June of last year (2011!), we have been asking for an EP. After today we can put that question to rest – The Paint a Picture will be available at Pierce’s performance tonight at Burlap and Bean; doors open at 7:30 p.m. Pierce has a history of selling out the venue, so be sure to have your tickets in advance.
What an exciting road it has been for Pierce to get here. Being a full-time student and working part-time has not seemed to slow him down one bit though. Continuously playing locally, Pierce has a loyal base in the Philadelphia area and looks forward to spreading his music. Pierce hopes to make an impact and inspire his listeners in a multiple of ways including involvement in social justice, human trafficking, and thoughts about one’s own journey in life.
We were first able to share with you Dark Skies (a sneak peak at one of the tracks you will now be able to own after this evening). Dark Skies became one of our favorites, quickly joined with The Lake and Flesh and Bone, which in an EWC review of Pierce’s show last summer, you can read about how he closed the show to an uproar of applause after the reverent silence through his powerful performance.
Pierce’s voice booms across any room. No matter the size. See video for The Lake below with Pierce busking in the corridor of the Bryn Mawr theater after a show last Fall.
Essentially, all of this energy has been leading to tonight! We wish Pierce the best of luck ahead with his new EP and cannot wait to add the tracks to our own collection.

Upcoming shows for Pierce include The Googies Louge, NYC, and The World Cafe Live (The Queen), DE.
